Clinical studies show that Hyperbaric oxygen therapy can rapidly relieve acute migraine pain for some people by constricting dilated blood vessels and reducing brain inflammation.

How HBOT Affects Migraines:

  1. Pain relief: Breathing pure oxygen under pressure helps stop acute headache pain during an attack.

  2. Vessel constriction: High-pressure oxygen acts as a natural vasoconstrictor to calm swollen blood vessels.

  3. Lower inflammation: It decreases chemical swelling and inflammation in the brain

  4. Decreased: blood vessel spasms

  5. Generation: of new blood vessels

  • Study: Normobaric and hyperbaric oxygen therapy for migraine and cluster headache

  • Study: A preliminary report on hyperbaric oxygen in the relief of migraine headache

    • Conclusion: One of the 10 patients in the normobaric group achieved significant relief of headache symptoms, while 9 of 10 in the hyperbaric group found relief. Based on a chi-square test, this difference is significant at the P < .005 level. The results suggest that hyperbaric (but not normobaric) oxygen may be useful in the abortive management of migraine headache.
