Chronic Fatigue
Clinical studies show hyperbaric oxygen therapy may reduce the severity of symptoms for chronic fatigue cohort.
Using this well tolerated treatment may help with symptom management and improve quality of life
Study: The efficacy of hyperbaric oxygen therapy in the management of chronic fatigue syndrome
Conclusion: We may infer that HBO2 therapy decreases the severity of symptoms and increases the life quality of CFS patients. It may be a new treatment modality for the management of CFS. However, further studies with larger sample sizes and control groups are definitely awaited.
Study: Hyperbaric oxygen therapy improves clinical symptoms and functional capacity and modulates thalamic connectivity in ME/CFS: a prospective cohort study
Conclusions: HBOT was well tolerated and associated with significant improvements in physical functioning, fatigue, pain, and cognitive performance in ME/CFS. The post-treatment shift in thalamocortical connectivity toward healthy control patterns and its association with clinical response support the hypothesis that functional thalamic dysregulation contributes to ME/CFS pathophysiology and may be modulated by HBOT.
this observational study provides encouraging evidence that HBOT may lead to significant improvements in physical functioning, enhance exercise capacity and muscle strength, improve information processing speed and reduce fatigue and pain in ME/CFS patients. These findings are consistent with results reported in post-COVID patients, despite some variations in treatment protocols.
